Trendspotters: Light Grey + Pale Wood
Posted by Samantha Drury Shore on
Welcome to Trendspotters. A round-up of interiors inspiration on a given theme, by your friends at White Black Grey. Oh, and spoiler alert: modern, minimal and monochrome are the order of the day, so no bright colours here #sorrynotsorry.
This edition, our theme is Light Grey + Pale Wood, inspired by the STUNNING kitchen above by Zephyr & Stone, Australia.
Combining neutral shades with timber accents is a classic Scandinavian look, and for a more modern vibe, you can't beat going pale. Here are some inspo images if you fancy bringing this soft chic look to your own home.
Sticking with kitchens, we love this from the home of one of our fave bloggers, Cate St Hill. There's something so timeless about grey cabinetry. Bonus points for tiny dogs:
I don't think there are many rooms that a soft grey wall does not work in, but for dining spaces I find it especially pleasing. Pair the lightest of grey walls with a classic wooden dining chair (from Carl Hansen if you can afford it), and you really have a look to last a lifetime.

Neutral paint tones and pale wooden floors also allow an unobtrusive backdrop against which to showcase bolder textures, as in this living room by Nina Holst, Stylizmo Blog.
I mean, Nina is obviously an interiors genius, but look at the way the rustic softness of the rug sits with the clean lines of the metal table, and then add in a bit of cork! Why not?!
Pale grey is such a cozy colour for the bedroom, though choose carefully between cool and warm tones. They will work very differently depending on how the light comes into your home... always paint a test patch first!
Love the tones the natural light brings out in both the grey wall and wooden furniture here...

Here's some grey in the bedroom done right, by our friends at The Bath Apartment. Also, hands down the best bed IKEA ever made...
There really isn't a room in your home where the light grey + pale wood combo doesn't work. Check out this gorgeous bathroom makeover by the very lovely Abi at These Four Walls blog...
I'm rounding off back in the kitchen with this epically beautiful house in Ålesund by Ask og Eng. Do take the time to view the entire place, it's an absolute stunner.
I love the contrast of the darker wood kitchen units with the pale plywood walls. I dream of a plywood clad interior. One day!
